Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 September 2026
AloKafana has no user accounts, no advertising, and never uses your
advertising identifier, so it never asks for permission to track you.
Three Google services are built in — push notifications, crash reporting and
anonymous usage statistics — and all three are described in full below. The usage
statistics tell us how many people use the app and which screens and kafanas they
open; they are not linked to you, never include what you type into search, and you
can switch them off in Settings.
Location
If you allow it, AloKafana reads your device location to show how far each kafana is
and to list the nearest ones first.
- Your location is used only on your device. It is never sent to us
or to anyone else, and it is never stored.
- Location is optional. Decline it and the app works normally, listing venues by
rating instead of distance.
- You can change this at any time in iOS Settings.
What is stored on your device
- Your saved kafanas — a list of venue identifiers, kept on your
device only. They are not synced anywhere and are deleted with the app.
- A copy of the venue list, so the app works offline.
- A flag recording that you have seen the intro screens.
None of this leaves your phone.
Network connections
Apart from the Google services described in the sections below, the app makes two
kinds of request:
- The venue list, downloaded from our address at
alokafana-data.pages.dev, hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web server,
Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the file. We do not add any
identifier to this request, and we do not track it.
- Venue photographs, which are loaded directly from Google's image
servers. This means Google receives your IP address when photos
load, as it would if you opened a web page containing those images. This happens
because venue information and photos come from Google Maps data.
Push notifications
The app includes Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) so we can send
notifications, such as an alert that a venue you follow has an event tonight.
- Google issues a registration token that identifies this
installation of the app so a notification can be delivered to it. Basic device and
operating-system information is processed alongside it.
- This token is not linked to your name, email or any account,
because the app has none.
- You will only be asked to allow notifications when there is something to send.
Declining changes nothing else, and you can change it in iOS Settings.
- Google acts as our processor for this. See
Firebase's privacy
information.
Crash reports
The app includes Firebase Crashlytics (Google) so we find out when
the app breaks. Without it, a crash on your phone is invisible to us and never gets
fixed.
- A report is sent only when the app actually crashes. Nothing is
sent during normal use.
- A report contains the stack trace (which line of our code
failed), your device model and iOS version, the app version, and
general device state such as available memory and whether the app was in the
foreground.
- Crashlytics generates its own installation identifier so that
several crashes from the same phone can be recognised as the same phone. It is
not your Apple ID, not your advertising identifier, and is not linked to your
name, email or any account — the app has none.
- We do not attach custom logs, custom keys or user identifiers to
crash reports. That means your searches, the venues you opened and your saved
kafanas are never part of a crash report.
- Crash reports do not contain your location.
- If usage statistics are switched on (see below), a crash report also includes the
last few usage events recorded before the crash — for example
"opened a venue page" — so we can see what led to it. These are the same
anonymous events described below, nothing more.
- Google acts as our processor for this. See
Firebase's privacy
information.
Usage statistics
The app includes Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see how many
people use AloKafana and which parts of it are useful. It is on by default and
you can switch it off at any time in the app: Settings → Share usage
statistics.
- What is recorded: that the app was opened and for how long; which screens were
viewed; and a small, fixed list of actions — opening a venue page, tapping Call,
Directions, Share or Taxi, saving or removing a favourite, choosing a filter or a
city, opening the map, and changing the language. Events about a venue include
that venue's name, its Google identifier and its city. These are facts about a
business, not about you.
- What is not recorded: what you type into search
(only how many results a search returned), your GPS location, your name, email or
phone number, or your contacts.
- Google Analytics generates an app-instance identifier for this
installation of the app, so that repeat visits can be counted as one user. It is
not your Apple ID and not your advertising identifier, and it is not linked to your
name, email or any account — the app has none. We do not set a user identifier of
our own.
- Google derives an approximate location — country and city — from your IP
address, as happens with any website that uses Google Analytics. Your
precise location is never sent.
- Advertising features are switched off: the app uses a version of
the Google Analytics library that cannot read the advertising identifier, ad
personalisation and ad-related consent are set to "denied", and the data is not
shared with advertising networks.
- Event-level data is kept by Google for two months; after that only
aggregated reports remain, such as the number of daily users.
- Switching it off stops collection immediately and keeps it off on every later
launch.
- Google acts as our processor for this. See
Firebase's privacy
information.
What we deliberately do not do
Stated plainly, so you do not have to infer it from the sections above. AloKafana
does not:
- record what you type into search;
- link any of the data above to your name, email, phone number or any account;
- show advertising or use the advertising identifier (IDFA), so it never asks for
permission to track you;
- send your location off the device;
- sell, rent or share any data with data brokers;
- use any of the above to build a profile of you.
Children
AloKafana lists venues that serve alcohol and is not directed at children.
Your rights
We hold no account, name or email for you, so there is no profile to export or
correct. Three installation identifiers exist — the push-notification token, the
Crashlytics installation identifier and the Google Analytics app-instance identifier —
and all three are tied to the app installation rather than to you. You can stop usage
statistics at any time in Settings. Deleting the app invalidates all three identifiers
and removes everything stored on your device. For anything else, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
