Frequently asked questions

Last updated: 2 September 2026

Where does the venue information come from?

Venue names, addresses, phone numbers, opening hours, ratings and photos come from Google Maps data. We tidy it up and bundle it with the app so it works offline.

A kafana is missing, or its details are wrong.

Email us at alokafana.contact@gmail.com with the name and, if you can, the address. Corrections are applied when the venue list is next refreshed.

Why do some venues have no photo?

Photo links provided by Google expire after a few months. When one expires we show a placeholder until the venue list is refreshed. We are working on hosting the photos ourselves so this stops happening.

What does "Usually busy now" mean?

It is how busy a venue typically is at this hour of this weekday, based on historical patterns — not a live headcount. It is measured against that venue's own busiest time, so a quiet neighbourhood kafana is judged against itself and not against a large restaurant.

Is "Open now" reliable?

It uses the venue's published opening hours, including venues that close after midnight. Published hours can be out of date, and holidays are not accounted for — if it matters, call ahead. The call button is right there.

Do I need an account?

No. AloKafana works fully without one, and there is no sign-up.

Does it work offline?

Yes. The venue list is stored on your device. Photos need a connection.

How do I change the language?

Settings → Language, which opens the app's page in iOS Settings. AloKafana is available in Macedonian and English.

When are events coming?

Posting events — live music, happy hours — is planned for a future version.
